Dark Mode is a feature of the play page that was added to the game on April 28, 2019. Entering the /darkmode command changes the play page to have a black background. It is possible that this feature will be expanded to change other UI elements in the future.
The /darkmode command also acted as an item code, allowing the player to collect an item.
The item changed on the first day of every month at 08:00 Pacific Time.
The Large Black Toque was the last Dark Mode item prior to the suspension of updates before Beta Testing commences.
